These photographs are as fresh as if they were taken this morning but they are Russia 1910.
Photographer Sergei Mikhailovich Prokudin-Gorskii (1863-1944) used a specialized camera with red, green and blue filters to recombine series of photographs into full colour. So vivid and gorgeous I get shivers; these and more come from the Library of Congress via boston.com

ReplyDeleteI thought they must have been taken now - full on.
